Reiki. What is Reiki energy? Well in a nutshell it is an energy field that surrounds us all and gives us life. It is an Intelligent Force Field that is separate and at the same time part of us. Some may call this a God Essence. We need it to exist. it was rediscovered and developed in 1922 by Japanese Buddhist Dr Mikao Usui, which has since been adapted by various teachers of varying traditions. It uses a technique commonly called palm healing or hands-on-healing as a form of alternative medicine and is sometimes classified as oriental medicine by some professional medical bodies.
This force field has been around since the beginning of time and space. It has been used throughout history by different Sages, Masters and such to heal, Much of that was lost, but due to its Active Intelligence it decided to be out and about again at this time. A Dr Mikao Usui was chosen for this. He embodied an insertion point in time and space for this to happen. There is a history that can be read here. His time was before and during WWII and before that happened it jumped to Hawai under Mrs. Hawayo Takata in 1937. One thing that must be understood is that this Energy is Intelligent and it does what it does. It can't and will not allow itself to be controlled by anyone regardless how much they try. There are traditionalists and there are progressives that have have been used to blend the original with other energies. They think they did this, but it was really the Reiki energy doing its thing. It is really the same but a different flavor. It happens based on the need at the time. Since then, Reiki has moved on and expanded into many branches and traditions. But nothing has changed how it is done. To be with it, it is passed from Master to Student in a type of initiation using symbols. Some chose to keep them secret but the cat is out of the bag and that energy thinks otherwise. That is the difference between the traditionalists and the progressives in the movement. The symbols must be activated into the student by the master for it to take hold. they are a representation of the energy itself as it anchors in the physical. It is all about lineage. My particular lineage can be traced back to Dr Mikao Usui.

My Branch is called the Raku Kei or Fire Dragon Method. Raku Kei is a Reiki System, which originated in ancient Tibet. It originated from the Lama Community and was lost for many centuries. It was rediscovered by Dr Mikao Usui from Sanskrit texts. This system was brought into practice by James P Davis, which is in my lineage. The concept of this system uses Shamanic Techniques making use of sacred elements: Fire, Earth, Air, Water and Ether. Consequently the symbols were reversed and the Master Symbol changed from the original Mikao Usui one. Did I mention it was Intelligent? This does not change the energy at all but makes it more potent to deal with harsh healing situations at the present time.
At first I had heard of Reiki but was impartial to it. The energies thought otherwise and I was offered the initiation all the way to Master free of charge. I initially refused this. But at the last minute acquiesced. I was initiated to the Mastery level using the Raku Rei master symbol. Later that night that symbol flashed in my hands an electric brilliant blue. I knew that it was real and it took hold.
I will now talk about the symbols. I do not agree with secrecy and exorbitant prices for initiation and the energies in me agree with this, that secrecy is wrong at this time, that charging large money for initiation is wrong (sorry Ms Takata, maybe in your time it was OK to do that). It is time for an open expansion of consciousness. Reiki should be available and accessible to all that want it. The first symbol is called the Cho Ku Rei. Please note that it is flipped 180 degrees horizontally from the original symbols. That denotes a different and the same flavor of energy. This is the ON-OFF switch to the Reiki energies. The general meaning of Choku Rei is: "Place the power of the universe here". Note that if you stare at it it is really not flat and it moves in a spiral fashion in 3D. That is the nature of the energy that is Reiki. I would caution that this requires initiation from a Master to be able to connect properly. Do not think that reading a book or listening to a tape can get you this. Find your Master and let him/her do it correctly.
Thus we come to the second symbol. It is called Se He Kei. Sei He Kei has a general meaning of: "God and man become one".
The Mental/Emotional symbol brings together the "brain and the body". It helps people to bring to the surface and release the mental/emotional causes of their problems. This has the power to connect to the person whom the treatment is being directed to. This is a mental, physical and emotional symbol.
The Mental/Physical/Emotional symbol, Sei He Ki, has to do with Yin and Yang and the balance between the two sides of the brain. The right part of the symbol represents Yang and our left side of the brain (logic, structure and linear thinking etc.) The left side of the symbol represents Yin and our right side of the brain. When you are facing another person and draw the symbol the left side of the symbol, i.e. the Yang part of the symbol ends up on the receiver's right side of the brain and the Yin part on the left side thereby helping to balance the two sides. Remember they are reversed.
The next symbol is the Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen or The Reiki Distance Healing symbol. As far as I know it has not been reversed. The symbol has a general meaning of: "No past, no present, no future" or it can have the meaning of "The Buddha in me contacts the Buddha in you". The Distance symbol can, as its name implies, be used to send energies over a distance. Time and distance is no problem when using this Reiki symbol. Many practitioners consider Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen as the most useful and powerful symbol. It is consequently the most used one of the symbols. The use of the symbol gives access to the "Akashic Records", the life records of each soul and can therefore be used in karmic healing. Trauma and other experiences from this life, previous or parallel lives that affect and mirror peoples' behaviors can be brought to light and released. It is a most useful symbol.

The last is the Raku Rei symbol. This one is a direct influence of the Tibetan Mahayana tradition. This was instituted by James P Davis in his study of ancient Tibetan texts. Reiki is essentially a horizontal system and this brought out a vertical system, Note the resemblance of a Lightning Bolt. That is what this energy is like and it is lightning blue in color. BAM! Lightning! Flash! Note the 7 zig-zags in it... Be careful if this is used. It has immense power. It has Electric Blue Lightning Power.
This symbol is used in the Master level of Reiki in the attunement process. It is used to seal the attunement process by closing the chakras of the student and to ground the student. It also plays a part in separating the energies of the student and that of the master after the attunement has been completed thus ending the attunement process. A Reiki Master does not direct the energies per say but simply becomes the vehicle for the energies to flow. That is KEY to Reiki. I am aware that there are other Master symbols out there but this is the one I was attuned to and the one I saw flash in my hands in electric blue color.
I have used all 3 symbols when treating in person and the remote one when it was remote. The energies flow regardless. I have even used the Raku Rei on a relative that had recently passed on in a specific way. I later confirmed that the use was correct from my attunement Master. The trick is to let the Reiki Energy flow and do its thing.
Reiki is a wonderful energy that is available tp heal us all. I hope this gives you the impetus to seek it out and get the benefit. RIDE THE WAVE! I leave you all with the 5 principles of Reiki.
